A rare film shot on Super-8 by Sue Madden, daughter of the late Dr Tom Madden who lived and was a GP at a nearby doctor's surgery for over 40 years. Queen's Road Methodist Church (known as Peckham Methodist Church) was built in 1864 on the corner of Queen's Road, Peckham and Harders Road (now Woods Road). The choice of location was designed to attract more worshippers as more people were moving to Peckham and it attracted large congregations during its lifetime accommodating up to 1000 worshippers. The church was damaged during World War Two and renovated in 1954 and eventually demolished in 1972. This film shows some of the demolition as well as footage of nearby streets, a cafe on Old Kent Road and Dr Tom Madden's surgery being cleared. This film is part of the Southwark Film Collection.
