For those of us living away, the hardest part of any trip home is that early morning departure. Whether you’re standing on the deck of the Loch Seaforth or looking back from the lounge, watching Stornoway get smaller in the distance never gets any easier. The CalMac crossing to Ullapool is often a beautiful sunrise in the summer, but many times it's pitch dark and blowing a gale. I wanted this song to reflect that raw feeling of leaving the island behind. It’s a plain and simple recording—just me and my guitar, with Keith and Scott on backing vocals.
