This is a rare Polednik 1CC diesel 4-Stroke made by Lubomir Polednik, It is a fixed speed (open venturi, i.e. no throttle) engine with a unique eccentric compression adjustment that changes the position of the crankshaft relative to the head to increase or decrease the compression. This example was purchased last year by my friend Ted and is the third opportunity I have had to run it-Ted tells me he enjoys it very much and runs it regularly-you'lll see why She's a really friendly engine, needles well and has very forgiving compression range. This video was shot on a day that was quite warm and compression was backed well off of a normal comfortable weather day. Running was steady and fairly even throughout the compression range as Ted and I swung the eccentric cam around with the engine taking on the characteristic laboring clatter when compression was getting too high. I feel that fuel consumption was fairly high for the size of the engine, but not worryingly so. It would make a fantastic power plant for a 1/2A Texaco scale RC plane, especially if one were to fit a throttle. Just a lovely engine-it runs a treat and has a pleasing exhaust note without a muffler. I didn't take note of the prop size, but the vibratory tachometer pen Ted used read in the 6,000-6,500 or so range (hard to study it while running the engine in the barn).
