The Erastus Corning Tower & Observation Deck visit - Albany, NY The Erastus Corning Tower was named after Erastus Corning II who was mayor of Albany from 1942 to 1983. His great-grandfather also served as mayor of Albany in the 1830’s. Corning was educated at Albany Academy and ran on the Democratic Party Ticket. The Erastus Corning Tower was completed in 1973 and was known as The Tower until 1983 when it was renamed after Erastus Corning. The Erastus Corning Tower is located in the Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza at Madison Avenue and State Street Albany, New York.[1] The Corning Tower is the tallest building in Albany and stands 589 feet tall with 44 stories. The Observation Deck is on the 42nd floor and has no windows on the west side. Views from the Deck include the Port of Albany and the Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza. Scenic views of the foothills of the nearby mountain ranges can also be observed from the Observation Deck. A devoted elevator takes passengers directly to the 42nd floor at a rise rate of sixteen MPH. [2] This is a repost of one of my earliest videos. I’m not sure of the original date! I hope you liked this look of the Albany/Rensselaer skyline. I deleted my channel by accident and lost 3 years of work in about 30 seconds. I’m now trying to rebuild my playlists. I’m posting some of my old videos here. If they look interesting please take a look and if you like them hit the like button. If you like the channel in general please subscribe and ring the bell to see when my new ones come out. [1] City-Data Com, Advameg, Inc. https://www.city-data.com/articles/Co... [2] Ibid.
