How to pair the IKEA TRÅDFRI remote with your existing Philips Hue system to get a cheap remote control of your bulbs. If you have the IKEA TRÅDFRI dimmer or the IKEA TRÅDFRI motion sensor instead it's exactly the same recipe. You /may/ need to update your IKEA remote if it's using an old firmware. For that you'll need an IKEA gateway - that is not covered in this video as that's standard IKEA procedure. For the moment it seems that scenes and colors are only supported for IKEA bulbs - also IKEA bulbs on the Hue system. Sorry for not making that clear. Lets hope for an update to the remote in the future. It has both advantages and disadvantages. It's cheap It's basic so easy to use for everybody It doesn't take up resources on your bridge as it's just a ZigBee node on your system which the bridge is unaware of It'll control your bulbs even if your Hue Bridge is turned off It's not configurable from the bridge/hue or other app so no fancy things Since it's talking directly to the bulbs (through the ZigBee network) it can take up to ½ a minute or so for the bridge to be aware of the bulb's new status Made by request for a Hue and an IKEA Trådfri Facebook group.
