Day 32 : Engine repair WINS! & CleanBoat We start the day early hopping into the courtesy car at 8a at KingFisher Bay Marina or Demopolis Yacht basin as the locals call it. So grateful that there are wheels for us to do our errands! You pick up fresh vegetables at a local, grocery scope Some engine parts at the auto store, drive to the tiniest post office in the middle of a field to send a luscious pink veil for @babygingie ♡, and hit an awesome community resale shop that gives all proceeds to scholarships for high school seniors called the bargain box! We get some new work shorts, flip flops, and an epic red sparkly dress... Back at the boat, provisions put away & prep for a day of engine work. We've ordered a new fuel filter housing that says it will fit.. spray with engine paint to cover raw aluminum. Yet as @lainebones gets it into the engine & realize the newer version has different threads!! We would have to change out all the copper fuel lines & dont have time... our boat is so old that some 'standard' small things have upgraded over the years, and theyre no longer compatible. ahh The old housing goes back on, and somehow there are no leaks whatsoever. A mechanic Matt comes over after he finishes running the commercial fuel dock next door and we instantly get along. He is incredibly knowledgeable and helps us to fix the timing on our rockers and answers tons of our questions. Scouting out so much! knowledge about what we need to fix and how to do it... even offering for laine to stay and take apart engines w him... So. Grateful. We have a lot more to fix on this engine BUT she is sounding better and we are grateful. The evening ends with A NEW FRIEND Robbins taking us to the auto parts store for a new radiator cap & then the The Red Barn - an awesome dive bar and historic restaurant! Day 33
