It is situated between the two tehsils of Pithoragarh namely Dharchula and Munsiyari. The nearest market place for Kanar is Baram where all the villagers come for there daily and day to day needs. kanar is Famous for its mandirs (KOKILA MANDIR) wood craft and also for homemade ghee. The main source of income for the villagers is farming,sheeps,horticulture,Herb obtaining and wood crafts.
