He has a PhD in Physicsand has contributed significantly to understanding ocean circulationdynamics and cryosphere interactions. Lohmann worked at the MaxPlanck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, the Earth ScienceCenter in Gothenburg (Sweden), the Department of Geosciences atthe University of Bremen, and the Meteorological Institute of theUniversity of Hamburg in Germany. He had several short-termresearch stays, conference contributions, and teaching atsummer/winter schools. He supervised more than 50 students and 40PhDs. Lohmann published more than 350 research papers, severalbooks, and received over 20,000 citations, with an h-index of 78.
