Rotten cherry wood epoxy resin hybrid bowl I call it the CAVE bowl In this ASMR style wood turning video I show how I made a wood epoxy resin hybrid bowl from this piece of rotten cherry wood I saved. I find the colors and grain patterns to be stunning in this piece. Making for an artistic piece of home decor. I hope you like it! Cherry log was left to rot in a creek bottom. Friend thought the tree had been taken down 3 or 4 years ago. The bark and sap wood was very punky. Gave me some issues keeping my bowl gouge sharp. I am quite happy with how the piece turned out. It has more figure and chatoyance than I was expecting. However, I clearly need to get a buffing system! I used crushed charcoal for the black color in the epoxy. I sanded to 600 grit, then used a paste abrasive wax. I used shellac for sanding sealer and a feed and wax for the finish. Subscribe for more videos.
