Once a defect is out into, in the wild, as an escape defect it really doesn't matter if you say, is it to the QA department? Is it up to the devs? Is it up to the UAT people? I mean, you're all in it. You collectively released this thing out there. so again, not a blame culture, but you know, I would look at it holistically and say, we missed it here. I agree with you. However, the reality of these testers lives is they work for a developer. A lot of development shops we'll measure, things that are probably ridiculous to measure When I got rolled under development and I started working for development, I remember they want to know how many bugs are written by someone in. And then those bugs go to closed, with the status of as designed. So basically the bugs that end up not being bugs written by QA, that developer wanted to start reporting that metric up to the director of development and I was like, no, I'm not giving you that number. Right. It's not very healthy to measure it that way. I don't think ultimately though, if you want to improve that process, but those testers directly under the product manager, because the product manager's responsibility is to put a high quality product out there.
