I’ve been a member for 10 days now, and while I haven’t exactly gone viral (yet), I’ve learned a lot and am ready to share my journey. My Starting Point I came to Medium with a pre-existing following built through old friends and word of mouth and I’m grateful for the encouragement I received to join. I’m fortunate to have a backlog of content from my private newsletters ready to go, which has been a big help in getting started. Week One Breakdown Articles Published: 32; I’ve covered a range of topics, including AI, Aliens, Ancient History, Conspiracies, even NSFW personal experiences and I’m trying to get a feel for what resonates best with readers. Total Views: 384 - While that number might seem small, it’s important to look at distribution. 25% came from a single article about ChatGPT Jailbreak Prompts. This tells me I should expand further on Tech Vulnerability which I happen to be active in discovering Total Reads: 156 It’s interesting to note that about 63% of my views turned into reads. This suggests that people are engaging with my content, which is encouraging, but I’d like to hear from anyone if this is within standard. What I’m Learning: My article about Atlantis got a lot of engagement, leading me to believe my audience is interested in Ancient Civilizations. This has inspired me to go deeper into lesser known and debatable topics. My Strategy: Content is King: Right now, I’m focused on putting out content— I want to experiment with different formats and discover my unique writing voice. For example, I’ve tried professional, humorous, and debatable approaches and don’t plan on any “niche” anytime soon. Learning from Others: I’m constantly reading other writers, and I’m particularly inspired by recommendations in my Followers tab. I find alot of inspiration and probably had an idea sparked from reading one of your articles. Not Sweating the Algorithmic Details: Yes, I’m tracking my progress, but I’m focusing on creating content that is helpful, entertaining, and thought-provoking, rather than on keyword stuffing or trying to game the system. My definition of valuable content is to engage deeper thoughts, which circles back to me in your writing Challenges and Questions: Finding the Right Topics: I’ve explored a few themes, everything im interestedireally. My articles are commonly personal but im interested what resonates with this audience. Any suggestions are welcome Balancing Quality and Quantity: I’m aiming to publish 20 articles a week. I try to spend a few hours on each piece, but sometimes I do get sidetracked by other subjects. Building a Loyal Following: I’m building connections with readers by finding like-minded and interesting points of view. What’s Next More Content: I started building a new publication, Unfiltered Voices, l and invite anyone who wants to write or be an editor to join. Every writer and post will be approved, assuming it follows Medium’s rules. Any topic, any style, any stance. Engaging with the Community: I’m going to start interacting with other writers, commenting on articles I enjoy, and joining discussions. I want to get involved with co-writing so lmk if you’re interested Last Thoughts I’m very excited about this Medium journey. I love the challenge of creating impactful content and I’m looking forward to the next 10 days. If you have any advice for a new Medium writer, I’d love to hear it. Sign up and publish immediately.
