For most of my MMA career I believed that in order to cut weight for MMA you had to be in pain and suffer. Big gaps between weight classes. Fighters proudly in pain during weight cuts, looking like zombies at their weigh ins, and then looking insanely huge for their weight classes the day of the fight. All that contributed to the current culture of unhealthy weight cuts in MMA. A few years ago I found out it doesn't have to be this way. Fighters believe, by standard, that the more pain you go through, the more benefit you reap. In a lot of things, weight cuts included, it works the opposite way around. The less stress your body goes through the day before a competition, the better you'll be able to perform. The more resilient your body will be. Pretty obvious, if you think about it. As I found out about Mike Dolce and started applying his methods, everything started to change in my weight cuts. After 6-7 years of research and application, I find myself impressed with how many fighters at the highest level are still clueless to how to do this properly and safely, and even their coaches and dietitians too. So here's a video to show you it can be done safely. Especially if you plan on having a long career. 0:00 Intro 1:20 31 Days out 1:44 Trip to Brazil 2:56 Planning the cut in 3 weeks 4:36 10 days out: 165.2 lbs 6:50 7 days out: Stressing over weight fluctuations 7:13 Water Loading: The reason why my weight keeps fluctuating 9:52 MyFitFoods shoutout 11:11 3 days out: Action Steps to get down to 145 lbs 12:30 When to make weight?
