Massoud' s fighters pick their way across a rocky minefield to the front line where they fire mortars , gesturing to barley visible Taliban forces in the ravine. A Taliban solider lies dead a few metres from their vantage point. Seasoned fighters bark orders at recruits. In a lighter moment Massoud joins a game of rock throwing, cracking jokes with his men. We follow Massoud' s risky journey to meet Dostum and Khallili when these leaders tried to form an alliance. Massoud' s bodyguards nervously scan the surrounding countryside 5 hours from their destination. Taliban prisoners washing in a stream at Massoud' s base camp defend their enforcement of Islamic law.
