👋 Welcome to Vientiane to Vieng Xai - Flight to Sam Neua and Public Bus - Laos Budget Travel Vlog My name is Mel and this is my channel - See, Do, Feel - See Places 🌏 · Do Good 🫶 · Feel Better ❤️ 📺 In this video: I leave Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and head to the awe-inspiring, and in my opinion, must-see, Vieng Xai. First, I head to Vientiane airport and take a flight to Sam Neua, cutting a 20 - 24-hour bus journey down to 50 minutes! From there, I take a public bus to Sam Neua town, only 30 km away from Vieng Xai. I need to stay overnight in the town, but in the morning, I try to reduce costs by getting a local bus headed towards the Vietnamese border. I should be able to jump off along the road and walk the 2km into Vieng Xai - the famous complex of caves and home of the Pathet Lao during the secret war! Will I make it? Watch to find out! Vieng Xai is a magical place and is of great importance in the history of Laos. Not many people make it there these days due to the worsening road conditions (dusty, potholed) and long journeys by bus/motorbike/bicycle. There are flights to/from Sam Neua from/to Vientiane that can significantly shorten the trip, and I take one to show you how you can do it. 💸 I'm travelling around Laos for a few weeks, on an average budget of less than *$40 per day*.
