(4 Apr 2010) SHOTLIST AP Television Beverly Hills, California, 21 January 2010 1. Wide of patient entering Dr. Payman Simoni''s office lobby 2. Close up of patient talking to staff 3. Medium of Dr. Payman Simoni consulting patient 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr. Payman Simoni, Plastic surgeon: "We are using the fat and muscle of the face to lift them and put them back where they used to be. However it looks more natural that a traditional face lift. They don''t get that pulled look because when I do the procedure I sit them up as opposed when we do it under general anaesthesia that the person has to lie flat. So when they sit up I can see their face. I can move the face they way I want to and at that moment I know where the face has to be and when I finish, the face doesn''t look like somebody else, the face looks like the same person as they were 15 years ago." 5. Close up of patient showing her jowls 6. Medium of doctor pulling patients face 7. SOUNDBITE (English) Marsha Reinsch, Face lift patient: "I''m afraid to be put under and I''ve been put under many times but it''s like flying I''m afraid to be put under. And they do it with just numbing your face and I''ve known other people who''ve had it done and it''s bearable. It''s not painful and that''s really one of the big factors." 8. Medium of doctor marking face 9. Wide of doctor marking face 10. Close up of marking face 11. Medium of patient taking pills in preparation of surgery 12. Medium of patients face being prepared 13. Zoom out of injection into face 14. Wide of injection 15. Medium of injection 16. Zoom out of injection behind the ear 17. Close up of patients face 18. Wide of the room 19. Medium of the slicing and cutting 20. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr. Christopher Zachary, Chair of Dermatology at the University of California: "You can move big flaps around. You can rebuild noses, lips, ears etc just with local anaesthesia and in that sense it''s a very safe procedure. You don''t get any of the complications of general anaesthesia and, you know, if it hurts the patient is going to complain." 21. Medium of the doctors face 22. Medium of doctor slicing 23. Medium of doctor making incision under chin 24. SOUNDBITE (English) Marsha Reinsch, Face lift patient: "It hurts but other people say they hear the snipping of the scissors but I don''t hear that. I feel pulling, I feel tightness when I''m talking to you. I feel tight and the only pain I had is when he did something behind my ears that hurt, and something on my cheek, but other than that I''m pleasantly surprised. I really am. I think it is something I would do again." 25. Various wides of slicing skin 26. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr. Payman Simoni, Plastic surgeon: "It''s done in one hour as opposed to six hours which is traditional. The incisions are smaller. We hide it very well in the hairline. We don''t have to change the hair pattern. There''s much less bleeding. A lot of bleeding is caused by anaesthesia. It''s not only the surgery itself. When there''s not much bleeding there''s less bruising. Instead of people hiding at home for two weeks, they can get out go to work in seven days." 27. Zoom out of patient looking in mirror after operation 28. Medium of woman looking in mirror after operation 29. SOUNDBITE (English) Marsha Reinsch, Face lift patient: "I think it''s great. Absolutely amazing and it was virtually pain free. There''s a little pain but it was minimal. It''s swollen now but, you know I feel great." 30. Various photos of before and after patients 31.
