Hey all, I did the trek in the first week of march this year. The snow has started to melt so plan accordingly. Here is a detailed breakdown of the trip. ⁃ You can start off from haridwar or rishikesh. {Rishikesh/Haridwar- devprayag-rudraprayag-ukimath-chopta} ⁃ start off early in the morning because buses continue to run only until 4/5pm and it takes about an entire day to reach chopta. ⁃ From rishikesh bus stand you can get buses to ukimath or rudraprayag. ⁃ From Rudraprayag take a taxi to ukimath and further a taxi to chopta. Trekking essentials: ✅ (You can rent most of these things from chopta base camp) 1. Trekking poles(skip bamboo sticks as they donot provide much grip and are rather slippery) 2. Spikes for shoes (especially for grip in winters/snow) 3. Snow boots The trek from chopta to tungnath is roughly 3.5 kms and from tungnath to chandrashila about 1.5 kms. The altitude is roughly 13,000ft. 🏔️ Preferably start off in the morning so you can enjoy the sunrise and be back on time since you cant camp overnight at any of these places. It gets extremely sunny and hot past 10am so if you start late it will be rather unpleasant and hot.
