Crystal Records S152. Watters was a student of Harvey Pittel and played with Pittel's quartet, arranging many of their pieces. This album is from fairly close after he graduated and when he was just beginning as a composer/arranger. Nowadays Watters is known mainly for his composing & film scores. Currently he is with the Eastman School of Music. On the back of the album is an endorsement by Harvey Pittel: "Mark Watters has recorded here for the first time a definitive solo classical baritone saxophone album which clearly demonstrates that this long-ignored member of the saxophone family is a viable and exciting solo instrument which plays virtuosic flourishes with ease and delight, sings a melodic line as beautifully as any, and, in the hands of an artist like Mark Watters, accomplishes the end result of beautiful music-making."
