Micro-computed tomography (microCT) or X-Ray Microscopy (XRM) is X-ray imaging in 3D, the same method used in clinical CT scans, but on a small scale with massively increased resolution. It really represents 3D microscopy, where very fine scale internal structure of objects is imaged non-destructively, both in vivo and ex vivo. In this seventh video of the series "Applications of MicroCT in Life Science": 1. Mouse thorax in vivo without contrast agent at 36µm voxel size 2. Mouse tissues in vivo - brown fat (purple) white fat (green) lung (blue) Bone (gold) at 35µm voxel size 3. Obese dbdb ko mouse 38mm voxel size Bruker micro- and nano-tomography are available in a range of easy-to-use desktop and floor-standing instruments, which generate 3D images of your sample’s morphology and internal microstructure with resolutions down to micron and even sub-micron levels. Bruker’s portfolio of 3D X-ray microCT systems offers turnkey solutions for non-destructive, high-resolution 3D imaging of small laboratory animals and a wide variety of biological samples. This includes mineralized and soft tissues, tumors, plants, and insects, as well as archeological and paleontological research fields.
