The Rhodesian Jungle is comprised of a standard shotgun shell that is loaded with both birdshot and buckshot. The birdshot is supposed to destroy any vines, foliage, or barrier in the way, and then the buckshot delivers the lethal blow to your target. This round was supposedly used during jungles wars such as Vietnam. Results: The Rhodesian Jungle was tested using the Remington 870. We fired the round from roughly 10 feet. Surprisingly the Rhodesian Jungle gave us a spread of about 4 inches on target. Compared to standard buckshot loads, the Rhodesian Jungle lacks in accuracy. Immediately upon entering the ballistic gelatin, the birdshot began creating respectable permanent cavities of roughly .25 inches. The few buckshot that hit the block continued the wound channel all the way until the 15 inch mark. The wadding and buck left a dirty but small cavity out until this mark. Overall the Rhodesian Jungle proved to be as effective as an average buckshot load. Though the round lacked a tight spread and reliable penetration, it sure looked awesome on high speed.
