The mass is built against the exterior wall, with the idea that the heat will rise up with the cooler exterior wall and then drop down with the warm interior wall to keep everyone’s feet warm during a class. This Rocket Mass Heater has a single duct running in a straight line through the mass and a different kind of aesthetic of bricks on the top. If Paul were to build this mass heater again, he would put the vertical exhaust next to the barrel and create a mass like in the office rocket mass heater: a shorter and taller, pebble style mass with a double loop duct. • The space: The experimental design of a duct doing two loops inside the mass. • The new design: A large double barrel stratification chamber. • Feet will be kept warm: The heater was built on the exterior wall instead of the interior wall. • Different aesthetic: A beautiful end result with bricks. • If Paul built it again: A vertical exhaust next to the barrel and a shorter and taller, pebble style mass with a double loop duct.
