There was a ton of confusion about the history of the UGG brand in the US on TikTok. After I studied abroad in Australia, I quickly realized that the UGGs in the US were never made in Australia. The founder was an Australian surfer in Southern California and named the brand "UGG Australia" - in 2016 they had to drop the word "Australia" from the brand name because it was deceiving.   Here is my quick breakdown of the history of UGGs in the US.
