Almost after a quarter of a century, Scorcese teamed with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci for The Irishman, a film based on Charle's Brandt's book I Heard You Paint Houses, which narrates the story of Frank Sheeran, a war veteran turned mafia hitman and the various crimes he did for his bosses. The film, backed by Netlfix, released on 27th November to great reviews. Though the film was released on the small screen, it had ample cinematic oomph to keep audiences used to the large screen hooked. The film runs for an expansive three and a half hours during which the life of Sheeran becomes intertwined with the life of Teamsters head Jimmy Hoffa. The film runs for a staggering 209 minutes and Scorcese called the film a very costly experiment. Well, this is Scorcese we are talking about. Given the kind of movies he has delivered in the past and the money they have made, of course, he can convince studios to pour millions of dollars into his projects, especially when that project stars stalwarts like Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. The film is a masterpiece in is treatment and it won't be wrong to say that Scorcese has poured his life's experience into the film. Since its release, The Irishman has made headlines for all the right reasons. At the 92nd Academy Awards, the film earned 10 nominations and the Golden Globes nominated it in five different categories. However, the film has recently attracted some controversy as well. Last year, Mickey Rourke, in an interview given to an Italian TV show called Non-É La D'Urso claimed that Scorcese wanted to meet him regarding a film which he was making and which starred De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. However, Mickey's casting director later told him that Mickey was thrown off the film because De Niro refused to work with him. While neither Scorcese nor De Niro has commented on this, Rourke has been carrying on this one-sided feud for months now. He recently posted a picture on his Instagram handle where he accused De Niro of calling him 'a liar' in a news interview. However, the link to the interview he was talking about was never provided. Rourke then went on to call De Niro a 'crybaby' and threatened him with severe implications. Robert De Niro has maintained a stoic silence on the subject so far, despite being publicly insulted. The Mickey Rourke - Robert De Niro feud goes back to 1987 when the two starred in a film together. This was the time when Rourke was known for his bad behavior on sets, which did not go well with De Niro. According to Rourke, De Niro told him that it would be best if the two did not talk to each other while filming. Did De Niro really say that? If yes, why? In this video, we answer all these questions and tell you all about this old Rourke- De Niro feud that The Irishman seems to have ignited again. So, get a bag of popcorn and get ready for some latest celebrity beef. Subscribe to Facts Verse for more! Robert De Niro was Publicly Insulted by Mickey Rourke Like this content?
