POLITICIANS RESORT TO BLAME GAME IN OLD GOA CONSTRUCTION CASE

Politicians in Goa have resorted to a blame game regarding the construction activity at Old Goa. Minister Michael Lobo has given the government 48 hours as ultimatum. Aam Aadmi Party Convenor Rahul Mhambrey said that Michael should resign before his ultimatum as he is a Minister in the ruling party. Town and Country Planning Ministers are shifting the buck to each others desk. Current Town and Country Planning Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar said that he has revoked the orders and permissions were granted by previous TCP Ministers. Former TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai said people should not hold him accountable for the project. Sardesai informed that the conservation committee approved the project on 7 October 2016 and technical committee approved it on 18 October 2016 when Francis D'Souza was TCP Minister. Goa Pradesh Congress Committe President Girish Chodankar said that Congress was the only party to oppose the project openly and that they would continue to oppose. Protetors said that Silence of people has killed Goa. They questioned Babu Kavlekar and Michael Lobo for blaming others, without claiming responsibility as Ministers of the ruling cabinet. They threatened to use a JCB and raze the structure to the ground. Panchayat authorities will issue a Stop Notice and licences will be revoked if found faulty after thorough check.
