Guitarist Antoine "Twan" Brooks wrote "Summertime Sway" on his parents' porch one humid evening, capturing that bittersweet feeling of temporary freedom and inevitable goodbyes. They recorded it at a tiny studio above a barbershop on Davis Avenue. The track never got distribution beyond Alabama, but it became the unofficial anthem for every high school reunion and summer cookout in Mobile for the next decade. The band members went their separate ways—lawyers, teachers, one became a dentist—but they still play this song when they see each other.
