Carretera Austral, Chile's Route 7, is incredibly attractive due to its breathtaking natural landscapes, untouched beauty, and amazing adventure opportunities. This road traverses the stunning scenery of Patagonia, offering close encounters with nature, including majestic mountains, spectacular lakes, azure glaciers, and lush forests. Moreover, it provides a chance to immerse oneself in the local culture, taste delicious food, and engage in various outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, rafting and fishing. Carretera Austral is a road full of adventure and exploration opportunities, drawing travelers of all kinds. Despite our limited time, we were determined to make it in 11 days from Puerto Montt to Villa O'Higgins by skipping quite a few national parks. This 11-day journey along the spectacular Ruta 7 was truly unforgettable. Each day brought new vistas and exciting activities. I'm excited to create 11 videos that will provide you with a comprehensive glimpse into our daily experiences, including driving, activities, and breathtaking landscapes. Hopefully these videos will offer valuable insights and inspire you for your own Carretera Austral road trip. It's much more economic if you pick-up and drop the car at the same place as Puerto Montt. Gas station: There're not so many gas station in this route, so we try to add gas in every town we stay. However we still made mistake in the day 3. We acknowledge that to fully savor the beauty of this region of Patagonia, it's highly recommended to allocate 2 or 3 weeks for the roadtrip. Rest assured, we plan to revisit this area in the future to explore the national parks in more depth.
