This is the Blanch Avenue Railroad Crossing, located in Norwood, NJ, along the CSX River Line. On April 11th, I hopped back to the CSX River Line in Norwood, New Jersey to do some morning rail-fanning. So I figured I would go to Blanch Avenue since I have seen this very popular one on YouTube, but never gotten a video of it until now. After arriving here and waiting for a little bit, this northbound mixed freight came through with CSX GE 5474 ES40DC leading, and CSX GE 556 CW44AH. This railroad crossing is to the left of Broadway, and it’s another pretty nice one, being another crossing that has signals from Conrail installed in the late-1990s, which is mostly original, as well as being another crossing on the River Line that has Safetran 12x24 inch lights that are the Hawker Siddeley design. The only change here was the replacement of the WC Hayes gate mechanism, with an Invensys Rail gate mechanism on the left signal. The original 2nd generation WC Hayes mechanical bell still remains here too. Which is nice to see, but it does sound a little bit rough like the other one at Broadway, given the fact of it’s age and the CSX River Line being a very busy train line. Overall, a very nice crossing, and hopefully these signals remain here for many more years to come. I will be making a return trip here. Right Signal: Safetran 12x24 inch lights, Western Cullen Hayes Gate Mechanism, 2nd generation Western Cullen Hayes Mechanical Bell, Harmon Base, RECO LED Gate-lights. Left Signal:Safetran 12x24 inch lights, Invensys Rail Gate Mechanism, Harmon Base, RECO LED Gate-lights.
