The 435 km HSR corridor will connect Chennai to Mysuru through 9 stations. The project is currently in the feasibility study stage, and the German government submitted a feasibility study to the Railway Board in November 2018. In June 2020, the Railway Board sought a detailed project report (DPR) for the project. In December 2021, a tender was issued for an environmental impact assessment study for the Chennai-Mysuru High-Speed Rail Corridor, which will connect Chennai to Mysuru via Bengaluru with 9 stations at Chennai, Poonamallee, Arokkonam, Hosur, Bengaluru, Channapatna, Mandya, Maddur, and Mysuru. The Chennai-Mysuru high-speed rail corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Chennai and Mysuru to less than two hours. The project is expected to improve connectivity between these cities and boost economic growth in the region.
