This weekend was full-on nerd mode from start to finish. I kicked things off Saturday by checking out a Harajuku-themed market at a large local park, packed with vendors selling cute fashion, accessories, art, and all kinds of colorful finds. I spent the day exploring the booths, practicing photography with a friend, and soaking in the aesthetic—but I also walked away a bit disappointed after realizing how much of the market felt like drop-shipped items instead of original creations. Sunday shifted gears into full collector mode. I started the day at a toy swap meet at a local shop with a friend, then headed out to a Roseville toy collecting convention, where I found some cool pieces and picked up a few Pokémon cards. From there, we hit a massive TCG swap meet loaded with vendors and Pokémon sellers, where I ran into another buddy and saw just how wild the card scene can get. Things took a turn when my friend tried selling cards at a shop that only offered 30% of their value, which sparked a real conversation about card shops, trade ethics, and knowing what your collection is worth. To end the weekend on a high note, we wrapped things up in the Folsom area at a smaller, community-based TCG event. The vibes were completely different—friendly, welcoming, and centered around the local Pokémon community, including some Pokémon GO players I’d seen earlier in the day. From cute markets to card deals gone wrong, this weekend had a little bit of everything—photography, collecting, community, and some real talk about the hobby. If you’re into Pokémon, toys, TCG events, conventions, and nerd culture weekends like this, you’re in the right place. Thanks for watching!
