If you're contemplating a track day at the much-hyped Bilster Berg circuit in Germany, this video may prove quite informative. I must say, my experience at the track left a bit to be desired. First and foremost, the cost of participating was rather steep, particularly when you compare it to other fantastic circuits like Zolder or the Nürburgring, which offer much better value for money and F1 history. Bilster Berg, on the other hand, demands a premium that’s difficult to justify, especially considering what you get in return. The track itself is... certainly unique. While I do have an appreciation for a circuit with character, Bilster Berg’s abundance of crests and blind corners felt more unnerving than exhilarating. It’s not the fluid, confidence-building layout you might hope for when looking to get the most out of your car. Sadly, my experience was further soured by the staff on the day. I do hate to speak ill of anyone, but I must admit that I felt more like an intruder than a valued guest. This was compounded by the rather baffling requirements for fitting noise transponders, which seemed more hassle than necessary. To top it off, the track insisted on charging extra for services that are typically included in a standard track day fees – things like vehicle recovery or dealing with an oil spill. When you’ve already paid a premium to be there, these additional fees only add to the sense of disappointment. In the end, I left feeling somewhat unwelcome, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning to Bilster Berg. If you're looking for a warm welcome and a well-organised day of driving fun, I would recommend seeking out a more hospitable venue. Trackday am Bilster Berg – leider enttäuschend Ich war neulich beim Trackday am Bilster Berg, und obwohl die Strecke in Deutschland ziemlich gehypt wird, war mein Erlebnis leider alles andere als positiv. Ich kann den Bilster Berg als Trackday-Ziel nicht empfehlen. Zum einen ist der Preis völlig überzogen – wenn man das mal mit klassischen Strecken wie Zolder oder dem Nürburgring vergleicht, fragt man sich echt, wofür man hier mehr zahlt. Klar, der Bilster Berg ist speziell, aber das ist nicht automatisch was Gutes. Die Strecke hat viele Kuppen und blinde Kurven, was den Fahrspaß ziemlich einschränkt – besonders, wenn man die Strecke nicht in- und auswendig kennt. Was mich aber wirklich gestört hat, war der Umgang des Personals. Ich habe mich nicht willkommen gefühlt, eher wie ein lästiger Störfaktor. Dazu kommen komische Anforderungen beim Anbringen der Lärmtransponder – total unpraktisch und unnötig kompliziert. Und als wäre das nicht genug: Für Dinge, die bei anderen Trackdays selbstverständlich im Preis drin sind, wie z. B. Fahrzeugbergung oder das Entfernen von Ölspuren, wird hier extra abkassiert. Das gibt dem Ganzen einen ziemlich unfreundlichen Beigeschmack. Unterm Strich war das kein Ort, an den ich gerne zurückkehre. Für mich war es das erste und letzte Mal am Bilster Berg. Es gibt genug andere Strecken, bei denen man sich willkommen fühlt, fair behandelt wird und obendrein noch mehr Fahrspaß für’s Geld bekommt.
