Flying Yankee is an intermediate ski trail located at Ragged Mountain. The trail runs from the top of the Spear Mountain area of the ski resort to the ski resort's base area. It is one of three non-gladed trails on Spear Mountain, the other two trails being Cardigan, a beginner run, and Showboat, an advanced trail, which was unfortunately closed the day I visited for race training. The trail starts off to the right when coming off the Spear Mountain Express, and is the second trail on the right. It starts off with a pretty steep drop-off, but then flattens out, and is pretty mellow the rest of the way down the trail. Ragged Mountain Resort is a ski area located in Danbury, New Hampshire. It is located in the central part of the state, sitting in between Interstates 89 and 93. It has a small vertical at around only 1,000ft, but the runs are much longer than most 1,000ft mountains, so it feels bigger. The mountain's main claim to fame is how cheap their season passes are, this attracts a lot of families from the cities. It is also not too far away from many major cities in New England, it is about 50 miles northwest of Manchester, New Hampshire, about 100 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, and about 160 miles north of Providence, Rhode Island.
