I think it's the intention that can be either empowering or not, as individuals are the ones that gibe something meaning and it can differentiate for everyone. this applies to everything, its like being aware that you like something but doesn't necessarily mean its positive to an overall community. I think makeups initial purpose was quite misogynistic, but that purpose and meaning was created by humans, so it rlly is up to the person themselves and what they define it as to them. I just think it's good to be aware of its original statement (the first and main intention that went behind the result of its creation)
