I am using ClockxControl from insideGadgets to repair a non-functioning SP motherboard that was damaged in an attempt to overclock. Wiring in the AGS is identical to the AGB except that the clock test pad is on the opposite side of the board (can still be used). It's easier to use the top (closest to edge of board) crystal pad instead. Board placement upside-down between the RAM and cart slot seems to be the best spot. I had to clip a small "+" support off of the rear housing battery compartment to get everything to fit. I used enameled magnet wire to make running the button control wires easier.
