She must attach herself to a dialysis machine each and every night so it can function as substitute kidneys while she sleeps. In this way all the harmful toxins are removed from her body. If she is to survive without the machine she will need a new kidney via a kidney transplantation. But the wait for a new kidney can be anything from three to ten years because transplant rates are low in South Africa.
