The setting is intimate, with only 14 seats around a counter, and the atmosphere is immersive. Kozeen designed the menu as a deeply personal reflection of his life, showcasing his journey from Kurdistan to Turkey and finally to Finland. Each dish tells a part of his story, like a smoked olive inspired by his childhood, Finnish whitefish marinated in ayran – a Turkish fermented yogurt, or shish kebab à la Kozeen, featuring charcoal-grilled sweetbreads. Then there’s the signature ‘King Potato,’ a Nordic classic reimagined with Middle Eastern flavors. Baked in a hand-painted salt crust, with a design Kozeen changes nightly, the potato is served with a creamy mango sauce, chive oil, and trout roe. As it’s presented, glittering gold dust fills the air – a touch of theater that feels uniquely Kozeen. The chef himself is quite the character – clearly passionate and unapologetically confident.
