The patient is a 22-year-old college student who experienced pain and swelling in her knee after it buckled while going down the stairs. The patient has been limping and experiencing pain on the inner side of the knee since the incident, but there is no clicking or giving way of the knee. The examiner asked questions about the patient's history of knee injuries and conducted various tests to assess for ACL injury, joint tenderness, and meniscal injuries. The examiner identified a complete rupture of the ACL and suggested two possible courses of action for treatment, physiotherapy or addressing the bucket handle tear first.
