History says “Poland wasn’t a country for 123 years.” Yes, Poland was partitioned and lost statehood from 1795 to 1918, but Poland did not vanish as a people, culture, or identity. In this video I react to the partition of Poland in 1795 and I will also give my opinion to a YouTube comment that treats those 123 years like a joke. it's a dumb comment, and I don't think they realize how disrespectful it was to write it. At least I hope that is the case. As Americans we shouldn't express ourselves as if we are better or superior to Poland (because that is how I took the comment). Poland is a great, powerful nation, not through military, or how much your economy grew, but through the people. I know because my wife bullies me. XD Poland was divided between empires. The Polish nation continued through language, tradition, family, and resistance. Independence returned in 1918 because Poland never stopped being Poland. This is not about being overly sensitive. It is about understanding history accurately and showing basic respect. If you are Polish, or living in Poland, what is your take on the partition of Poland?
