Video of Napoleon Pass Road (Trail 540) traveling north from Pitkin toward Tin Cup. August 7, 2020. Napoleon Trail is one of my favorite trails. There are long stretches of rocks that will definitely remind you that you're out of shape, a couple of technical spots where you have to navigate around large rocks, and the step-downs in the forrest on the bike side can be challenging, especially when the trail is wet (which is often given that the area is shaded by the trees). But the view from the top is amazing. Definitely recommend riding south (from Pitkin) to north (to Tin Cup) to avoid having to ride up the badly rutted tree section on the north side of the trail saddle.
