Does biochar (terra preta) work? Here’s an example

Biochar is the common term for Terra Preta, the deep fertile soil created in South America by the combination of trash heaps which included the humanure. It specifically refers to the charcoal left behind by the burning which was inoculated with the microbes. This kickstarted a virtuous cycle of soil building which continues in some parts, even to this day. In 2020 I made some biochar and inoculated it in a barrel full of weeds, manure, and compost. I really didn't notice a difference until this year, but what a difference it is! To be clear, this is hardly a scientific test, however, I'll continue testing and update results as I learn more.
