The long winter has been feeling a little heavy lately, so I headed out into the forest for some quiet time and a small bushcraft fire. In this video I attempt to start a fire using flint and steel in wet conditions, which always takes a bit of patience when everything in the forest is damp. Eventually the tinder bundle catches and the fire comes to life. While exploring the area I also spotted a deer moving through the trees, one of those quiet moments that makes slowing down outside feel worthwhile. To finish the afternoon I cooked a beautiful cut of bacon over the fire, which might be one of the best rewards after finally getting the flames going. This is a slower, more reflective video — just the sounds of the forest, a small campfire, and a moment to breathe during the long winter.
