Barcelona Medical Photonics Network 2025

On Tuesday, 4 November 2025, the BMPN hosted its Annual Meeting under the topic "Bridging Brain Science and Clinical Care". The goal of the event is to bring members of the BMPN network and others together to strengthen existing collaborations and initiate new ones. The meeting highlighted advances across neurophotonics, neuroimmunology, brain circuit analysis and modulation, photopharmacology, and neurovascular research, as well as innovative approaches to vision and retinal neuroscience. Presentations featured a wide spectrum of cutting-edge methodologies: from optical and photonic imaging to optogenetics, pharmacological modulation, organoid models, and translational clinical studies, thus illustrating how diverse disciplines converge to bridge fundamental brain science with clinical care. The BMPN annual gathering featured contributions from leading experts in these fields, including Prof. Josep Dalmau (Hospital Clínic / IDIBAPS / Caixa Research Institute), Prof. Joseph Culver (Washington University), Dr. Mercè Masana (UB /IDIBAPS), Prof. Francisco Ciruela (UB / IDIBELL), Dr. Montse Solé (UAB), and Dr. Zohreh Hosseinzadeh (Radboud University Medical Center).
