Video shows how to use a Sodastream canister with injection valve (see other vids for details) to purge oxygen from homebrew bottles with CO2. No need for beer gun or keg, you can use this simple and cheap method straight from your fermenter prior to bottle conditioning. For this batch, bottling a 6.2% ABV Extra Special Bitter (ESB) I cold crashed the beer down to 1.5 degrees c for 3 days prior to bottling. Purge the bottles with CO2 before filling from a standard spigot tap, straight from fermenter. Reduces any contact time the beer has with oxygen, which may or may not really matter all that much in real terms. It is just reassuring to know I've done it anyway! Because splashing isn't an issue anymore now the CO2 is present I don't need a bottling wand and have no real need to fill from the bottom up either. Splashing is actually beneficial now as it allows me to cap on foam. No priming sugar for this batch, I'm just going to apply patience and wait 6 weeks minimum. Any questions please feel free to ask, comments welcome too and by all means thumbs it up if like it or thumbs it down if not. Cheers.
