The Lamar area is a great place to see wildlife because of the open terrain. This was a short 11 mile round trip hike starting at first light and ending around 1:00 PM. This is a very easy trail that is basically flat in this portion and a lot of people hike it to get their first feel of the Yellowstone backcountry.
