Phenomenology studies how different sides of consciousness are experienced from a first-person point of view. Phenomenology is the study of phenomena, which are how things look or seem to us.Edmund Husserl was one of the most prominent thinkers of the 20th century. He made significant contributions to almost all areas of philosophy and anticipated the basic concepts of related fields, including linguistics, sociology, and cognitive psychology. In the autumn of 1883, Husserl moved to Vienna to study with the philosopher and psychologist Franz Brentano.
