Landmark agreements with the European Union and India, that reflect India’s careful and forward-looking economic positioning. Rather than flashy reforms or aggressive tax incentives, the budget focuses on a measured path toward achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. 01:34 As highlighted at the Telangana Global Business Rising Summit, 2047 marks 100 years of independence. Moving beyond five-year plans, India is now embracing a long-term national vision. 01:58 Education The 2026–27 education allocation stands at ₹1.39 lakh crore — the highest so far — with the majority directed toward school education and literacy. School education receives ₹83,560 crore, while higher education gets ₹55,727 crore. Encouragingly, there is now greater emphasis on strengthening primary education. However, the increase is only 6.5%, and education spending remains at 2.7% of GDP, well below the 6% NEP(National Education policy) target. There is a 7% rise in the School Education Department’s allocation, with strong focus on AI learning, 14,500+ PMSHRI schools, and research via the National Research Foundation. Recent trends show shifting priorities — from Samagra Shiksha (2022–23) to higher allocations (2023–24), digital education (2024–25), and now AI-driven education. The budget promotes Narela Education City, University Townships, Atal Tinkering Labs, and innovation centres. Allied health sciences and niche fields like astrophysics are also gaining support. TCS on overseas education has been reduced from 5% to 2%. 05:52 Healthcare The Health Ministry allocation has increased by nearly 10%. Given rising lifestyle diseases like diabetes and heart conditions, this is a welcome move. Key schemes such as PM Jan Arogya Yojana and the National Health Mission have received higher funding. Primary healthcare, maternal care, disease control programs, new AIIMS institutions, and digital healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission remain strong priorities. Premier institutions like AIIMS Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh have received enhanced allocations. Infrastructure strengthening is essential, as these institutions handle the country’s most complex cases. The Biopharma Shakti Initiative receives ₹10,000 crore to boost domestic biologics production. Mental healthcare is gaining attention, with plans for another NIMHANS in North India and upgrades in Ranchi and Tezpur. Emergency and trauma care capacity will increase by 50%, with five regional medical hubs planned. The budget also supports allied health professions and expands AYUSH institutions. Conclusion 10:21 Overall, Budget 2026 demonstrates a strong commitment to strengthening education and healthcare, aligning with the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Thank you.
