Nepali workers' exploitation begins at home

Millions of Nepali migrant workers travel to the Gulf countries and South East Asia in search of job opportunities. Thousands of them go through harrowing situations and many of them become an easy target of exploitation by brokers. Twenty-five percent of Nepal's national income is supported by the remittance money that migrant workers send back home, but the government has done little to act against the illegal middlemen. Despite recent reports of exploitation of Nepalis abroad, desperate workers still queue up in the capital, Kathmandu, to get a foreign job as the poor Himalayan nation offers little job opportunity for them. Al Jazeera's Subina Shrestha reports from Kathmandu.
