Should You Draw from Photo?

There are two main differences between drawing the figure from a photo reference, and drawing the figure from life. Both approaches to figure drawing are very different, even if the end product is the same. In this video I share my thoughts about this topic, and explain the 2 fundamental differences, plus some of the issues that arise when you are drawing either from life, or from photo. As a figure drawing artist it’s important that you know and understand the potential and the limitations that each approach can offer.
