At first glance, there’s a lot to like — a clear street grid, historic buildings, the Arkansas River waterfront, and some genuinely charming areas like the River Market district. But the more time I spent walking around, the more I noticed some serious issues. In this video, I break down the good and the bad of Downtown Little Rock from an urban design perspective. We’ll look at the street grid, public spaces, historic architecture, transit, and the huge amount of parking that now dominates parts of the city center. At the end of the video, I introduce my Signature CA Downtown Subjective Experience Rating, where I score the downtown across multiple categories like walkability, street activity, transit, and skyline.
