On 26 June 2024, I joined Air Greenland onboard a DHC-8-200 for their first flight from Iqaluit (YFB), the capital of the Nunavut Territory in North-eastern Canada, to Nuuk (GOH), the capital of Greenland, following a decade-long hiatus on that route. The revival of this route is done in cooperation with Canadian North, so passengers can book connections all the way to e.g. Montreal and Ottawa. Needless to say, there was quite some celebration and media coverage at Iqaluit Airport! The flight was delayed by 1.5 hours but otherwise went by smoothly. The onboard service was great and friendly, with two drink rounds, a rich sandwich, and a muffin. The legroom was also really good and I thoroughly enjoyed this flight. When we arrived in Nuuk, which experienced a lot of rain that evening, I was surprised to see a bus bringing us to the new terminal. I thought it was still closed but it had actually opened just two days prior. The new terminal definitely brings Nuuk Airport to a whole new level. This flight was part of my challenge to fly from North America to Continental Europe using only Dash 8 aircraft types. Therefore, I transferred to an Icelandair DHC-8-200 from Nuuk to Keflavík (KEF). The remaining flights of that challenge will be covered in an upcoming video.
