Saruman the White, the most powerful of the Istari. Being the Chief opposer of the Dark Lord Sauron, Saruman led the main operations against the enemy and sought means to defeat him. Falling from his high errand, Saruman desired to become a great power, and he abandoned his mission. Believing himself to be working against the designs of Sauron, Saruman unknowingly ended up becoming a servant of the Dark Tower. What caused the downfall of Saruman? Why did he abandon his mission? And why did Saruman desire the One Ring if he was accounted so wise? This is the history & explanation of Saruman’s fall. This is a part of the collaboration of the Tolkien Reading Day.
