Hey! It's been a while. It's basketball season, and I also have an extra class this year, so my time is limited to do extra things. Sometimes I wonder if I should just quit this hobby because I'm an all or nothing person. Like if I'm going to drink coffee, I'm going to DRINK COFFEE. (And I become overly anxious or I get an ulcer...yes that happened. And I've been off caffeine for 2 months now. Because I can't halfway drink coffee. It's all or nothing!) If I'm going to be a good mom or a good teacher, I'm going to BE A GOOD MOM and a GOOD TEACHER. This is part of who I am...but it's not always healthy (See above example of anxiety and ulcer.) I'm not made to do everything I do 100% well, even though I really wish I could. So I've learned to have a YouTube channel, but not HAVE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL! And furthermore, I've learned to be a good friend without trying to be THE perfect friend. My friend Eden told me recently that "you can't be a great friend AND a great mom." I thought that was super enlightening. My family comes first even though I wish I could give everything to everyone and be everything to everyone. I've learned to be a decent friend, but the best mom, wife, daughter, and sister I can be. I've learned to be a decent teacher, and that being decent is GOOD. I think the only thing I'll regret is if I'm just a decent mom or wife. I met a new friend recently and she said, "I'm a decent friend. I mean I have two kids, so I'm only a decent friend." I LOVED how freeing that sounded. I started this channel during the Covid lockdown when my family and friends were curious about homeschooling and I am a PASSIONATE sharer of things I'm passionate about:) I've also always loved making videos. Someday maybe I'll unearth the countless hours of videos I took on my HUGE camcorder of my Jr. High friends making movies or of random vacations where I was the weirdo recording everything...before all people were weirdos and had phones that recorded everything. I just never had a way to share them with anyone, which is why YouTube is so fun! Sometimes I watch YouTube videos during lunch. It's one of the ONLY times of day when I'm alone, and I enjoy watching The Minimal Mom and being inspired to get rid of ALL my stuff OR Haley Pham and being inspired to just quit everything and read all the time (all or nothing!). I continued my channel when I started teaching in a classroom setting, and it's super motivating to create and prepare cool lessons when I'm going to be sharing them with other people besides my students. So I do think that making YouTube videos has made me a betterly decent teacher (I like making up words). It's funny how things I LOVED as a child I still LOVE as an adult...I don't think I've changed much in 39 years. I used to make tons of worksheets during Kindergarten free time to then play school with when I got home. My parents received a call that I was using too much paper to make piles of worksheets and needed to draw a nice picture instead. So I did. I took the whole next free period to draw a nice picture and couldn't wait to show it to the teacher. She was cutting something on the paper cutter and didn't even look at it. She said something like, "Oh that's nice." And I thought...well that was unfortunate. Canva and Teachers Pay Teachers have given me the tools to create real worksheets and activities for my real students, and It. Is. So. Fun. If you can find a way to make a little extra cash doing something you are passionate about...well that's just a beautiful thing. Thank you, United States of America! Thank you, Freedom. Thank you, Veterans! Veterans...my Great Uncle Roy is a World War 2 Veteran and I'm hoping to share a little more about that here...So back to YouTube and wondering about my motivations/intentions and wondering if I should continue this. I'll continue doing a decent job posting videos of decent quality. There's a Switchfoot song that says, "If I'm adding to the noise, turn off this song." And that pretty much sums up how I feel about YouTube. If I'm ever just adding to the noise, I'm done. But for now, WHEN I have a few extra minutes and something to say, I might say it. And I'll have fun doing it. Then I'll reload all my apps (because my lame phone requires me to delete EVERYTHING to upload one video). And I'll get back to my life. In summary...have a great day. Oh Teachers Pay Teachers! Support my business and I can take my kids for fun drinks from Starbucks before school! Love Them Well https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/s...
